Roy Rogers Restaurants
Franchise FAQ

How is a “Legacy Brand” a Competitive Advantage?

Roy’s really hits the nostalgia sweet spot, which sets the brand apart from others.

Today, there’s a touch of nostalgia in every Roy Rogers restaurant, a nod to our history, tradition, and the “Code of the West” that the brand represents. This legacy provides each new location with a built-in following and loyal fan base of “Royalists.” These customers have loved the brand for years and know to expect a cut above in food quality and experience—our promise as a top QSR franchise that keeps customers coming back again and again for a memorable and meaningful dining experience.

We remain faithful to Roy Rogers traditions by serving an appealing choice of menu items, made with the best ingredients, and guided by our core values: integrity, honesty, education, safety, family, and community involvement.

What is Roy Rogers’ History?

When it comes to the fascinating saga of American fast food, the tale of Roy Rogers Restaurants is a true standout. As a brand born from the popularity of a silver-screen cowboy, it’s a story that combines a Hollywood namesake, culinary ingenuity, and business acumen.

The Roy Rogers Restaurant concept was started in 1968, the enterprise was the brainchild of the Marriott Corporation. The brand owes its name and branding to the legendary cowboy actor and singer, Roy Rogers. Marriott leveraged Roy’s wholesome cowboy image to lend a distinctive persona to its new venture.

Unlike many of its contemporaries that specialized in a limited selection of fast food staples, Roy Rogers Restaurants dared to be different. It offered a wider array of fare — from burgers and fried chicken to roast beef sandwiches and a breakfast bar. The “Fixin’s Bar,” was introduced in the early 1970’s, and it remains a beloved feature where customers could customize their orders with a variety of toppings, this was another novel concept that proved popular among patrons.

Today, the folklore and menu of Roy Rogers can be shared, repeated and multiplied in your market as well!

What Does Roy Rogers Menu Have to Offer?

Roy Rogers features a menu created to serve multiple generations during all three dayparts – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The brand is famous for serving up a “Triple Threat” – three popular main dishes: roast beef, burgers, and chicken – served with a quality and freshness that sets a new standard in the quick service segment.

From breakfast sandwiches and platters, to our Double R Bar Burger®, top inside round, USDA Choice roast beef, and fresh, never frozen fried chicken, Roy Rogers is known for quality and being a cut above a typical fast food franchise…a difference our Royalists notice.

Our signature Fixin’s Bar® features fresh lettuce, freshly sliced tomatoes, onions, pickles, and more. Guests are empowered to dress their sandwiches the way they like them without the need for a special order, and our sides and desserts offer something for everyone.

Is Restaurant, Business, or Franchising Experience Required?

Yes, we seek ambitious, driven applicants that are community-minded and have the business background to hire and lead a team. Restaurant or franchising experience with a proven track record is preferred for anyone looking to franchise a restaurant with Roy Rogers.

What are the Minimum Financial Requirements?

We require that potential franchisees demonstrate a net worth of $1 million minus their residence and $500,000 in liquid assets. It’s important to have this kind of financial stability as a business owner so you can better navigate the demands and challenges of establishing your franchise.

What are my Start-Up costs?

$755,250 – $2,123,050 plus there are certain ongoing costs including the 5% Royalty Fee and 1.5% Marketing Fee.

*Estimated Range of Construction costs: for conversion of an existing restaurant (i.e. 2nd Generation), to an inline or end cap restaurant in a retail center or a newly constructed, “ground-up” restaurant. Please see Item 7 of our current Franchise Disclosure Document for detailed initial investment costs.

How does Roy’s AUV Compare to Other Brands?

When exploring the best restaurant franchises to invest in, understanding average unit volume is crucial. At Roy’s, we’re always upfront about store performance with our multi-unit franchise partners. The Top 25% of Roy Rogers locations average $2.5M in annual sales; the top 75% averaged $1.5M and the combined store average in 2024 was $1.8M*

* Based on the Average Revenue of franchised and corporate locations during the 2024 fiscal year. There is no assurance, however, that your restaurant will do as well. Please see Item 19 of our current Franchise Disclosure Document for further details.

Are there Incentives for New Development?

For qualified candidates, we are currently offering an incentive program that reduces initial franchise fees and royalties, to lower some of the initial costs incurred to open and build a new QSR franchise. These discounts and savings potentially offset “start up” expenses – reducing the operator’s financial burden and creating a more feasible and quicker path to profit and growth. Please see our May 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document for more information.

Where is Roy’s Expanding?

Our brand is expanding across the East Coast, especially along the I-95 Mid-Atlantic corridor for corporate and franchise locations. We are especially keen to open in and around markets where Roy Rogers Restaurants were prevalent in years past. For example, in June, we opened a new store in Cherry Hill, NJ. It’s been a tremendous success, a perfect example of excitement and pent-up demand for the nostalgic return of RR to a region that had over 100 locations, back in the day. There are many choice markets like Cherry Hill available, see them here.
